How to Achieve Your Goals

By Kim Roach · April 19, 2007

In a previous post, we discussed How to Find Your Purpose in Life.

However, now that you know your purpose, you must create definite plans for achieving that purpose.

Here is a step-by-step process that will allow you to turn your goals into their physical equivalent.

These are the 7 steps to creating all that you desire in your life.

1.) Your first step is to decide what your major aim in life shall be. Set goals that are worthy of you. Set goals that will stretch your faith and inspire you to reach for new levels of performance.

Create a vision that drives you to success while also enriching the lives of others.

In creating your vision, you must also believe with every fiber of your being that you will obtain your goal.

2.) Set very specific goals.

You must set specific and measurable goals. Most people, when you ask them what their goals are, they might say they want to make more money or lose weight. However, this isn’t specific enough. You must have a way to objectively measure your progress.

Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. It is not sufficient merely to say “I want plenty of money.” Be definite as to the amount. Write down exactly how much money you want to make and when you will have it within your possession.

3.) Your next step is to write out a clear, concise statement of this aim. Place your goals in a spot where you will see them at least twice a day. This could be on your dresser, on your bathroom mirror, or even on your bedroom ceiling.

Write down your goals in the form of affirmations.

Affirmations must be personal. One of the best ways to start an affirmation is to use the phrase “I am” or “I have”. This is because your subconscious only responds to commands given to it in a personal manner.

You must also create your affirmations in the present tense. If you think about your goal in the future tense, it will always stay in the future. Therefore, you must always write, think and visualize your goal as if you have already achieved it.

Bob Proctor has created an extremely powerful affirmation statement that goes like this:

“I am so happy and thankful now that I am ________________ ” (fill in your goal)

Here are some sample affirmation statements to get you started:

“I am so happy and thankful now that I am creating the causes of wealth everyday.”

“I am so happy and thankful now that I am creating a more fulfilling and rewarding relationship with my spouse.”

“I am so happy and thankful now that I am learning to love my enemies.”

“I truly believe in my heart, with my strong faith, that I am healed of cancer.”

“Thank you for my healing.”

Read your affirmations at least twice a day and always keep your goals at the focus of your attention. Read them with faith and conviction, knowing deep in your heart that this is what you want for yourself and that each day you are coming closer to the exact person you have described in your affirmations.

However, don’t just read them aloud, write them out as well. By writing down your goals every day, you will enforce the power of repetition.

Although these techniques may seem simplistic, don’t let that fool you. Be open and don’t judge it.

Stay dedicated to this process for thirty days and watch what happens.

Affirmations only work when you use them consistently over a period of weeks or even months. They are used to replace your old, negative internal dialogue. Your affirmations will eventually become your new and empowering thoughts. These powerful thoughts will also give way to more empowering behavior, leading you closer and closer to your goal.

4.) Next you must imagine your goal as though you have already obtained it. Imagine that you are grabbing hold of the wheel of that brand new car. Imagine you are living in the luxury of your new home. Imagine yourself reaching a new level of success in your business.

The key here is to infuse your imagination with emotion. The more energy and emotion you attach, the more powerful attractor energy you attach to it.

Feel those feelings of abundance, wealth, and happiness. You must get in the habit now of creating the exact vision of your goals in your mind and in your feelings. This is one of the keys to attracting your desires.

When you begin focusing all of your attention on your desires and your ultimate goals, you will find that the resources you need to get there will start showing up along your path.

Imagine your goal as if you have already obtained it at least once a day. You can do this exercise for 10 to 30 minutes. It’s up to you. But remember, this should be fun and it should also help motivate you to take massive action towards obtaining your goals.

5.) Your next step is to find someone who has already achieved what you want to do and model their plan of success.
This crucial step can save you years of trial and error. If you want to become an architect, find a successful architect in your community and ask them how they have achieved such success. They will most likely be more than willing to share with you.

After you have contacted them, you will have in your hands a step-by-step blueprint on how to achieve your desired goals.

6.) Take massive, focused action towards obtaining your goals. Nothing happens until you take action. One of the most important keys to all success is being dedicated to a plan of action.

There is always a price to pay for success. Successful people are those who have been willing to pay the price.

You must begin this today. Once you have decided on a definite chief aim, do at least one thing on this very day that will move you closer to your goal. This action will put into movement the creation of your ultimate desires.

Each and every day you must write down everything you have done to get closer to your goal. In addition to this, you must also write down what your plan of action is for the next day.

7.) Your next and final step will be the forming of an alliance with some person or persons who will cooperate with you in carrying out these plans and transforming your definite chief aim into reality.
